Milk Depot Location

Breast milk provides the ideal nutrition for infants. It’s a nearly perfect mix of vitamins, protein and fat… everything a baby needs to grow.

Methodist Hospitals’ Northlake Campus in Gary is a Milk Depot site.

Women can donate their extra breast milk at Methodist Hospitals’ Northlake Campus, located at 600 Richard Gordon Hatcher Blvd. (formerly Grant St.), Gary, for processing at The Milk Bank in Indianapolis.

The Milk Bank provides pasteurized donor human milk (PDHM) by prescription or physician order to hospitals and outpatients throughout the United States. Premature and ill infants in hospital neonatal intensive care units (NICUs) are the Milk Bank’s highest priority. According to The Milk Bank, preterm infants fed human milk may spend 15 fewer days in the hospital than those receiving formula.

If you or someone you know is interested in donating breast milk, please call the Methodist Hospitals Post-Partum Unit at 219-886-4734.
